During this solemn religious celebration an effigy of Christ carrying the cross is taken in solemn procession from St. Augustine’s Church at 7:00 pm on 21/2 to the Cathedral for an overnight vigil. The following afternoon, at 4:00 pm, it is then taken from the Cathedral, accompanied by a magenta-robed escort and crowds of the faithful and curious, to St. Domingo’s Church, along Rua de Pedro Nolasco da Silva, Travessa dos Santos, Nam Van and Sai Van before being returned to its place in St. Augustine’s Church.
